Accurate stimulation in a complex sandstone reservoir
A new well in a subsea development targeted a tight sandstone formation with average permeability of 3–5 mD. The reservoir contained vertical flow barriers across a 30 m thick section, making effective reservoir access and stimulation particularly challenging.
The well was completed as a dual lateral with two 2,000 m / 6,600 ft horizontal sections, requiring a solution capable of accurately connecting productive zones throughout the reservoir.

Precise reservoir access with Fishbones Drilling
Fishbones installed a 5½” liner equipped with 48 Fishbones Drilling Subs, creating a total of 144 branches into the reservoir.
The Branching system was designed to accurately connect isolated reservoir layers, increase reservoir contact, and improve flow across the formation. Prior to deployment, the operator assessed the downside risk as limited.

100% production uplift
Production log interpretation concluded that approximately two-thirds of production originated from the main bore, effectively doubling production compared to what would have been achieved without Fishbones.
Proven performance in the field
The production results demonstrated the value of improved reservoir connectivity and validated the Fishbones approach in a challenging sandstone environment.
Expanded deployment by the operator
Following the successful installation, a second well was completed with Fishbones in 2021 and brought on production in 2022. Additional installations followed in other fields in 2024 and 2025.
