Increasing productivity in a deepwater pre-salt reservoir

A deepwater pre-salt carbonate field development required increased productivity in a technically demanding environment. The well was drilled at 1,400 m / 4,600 ft water depth with a 40° inclination and an 89 m / 293 ft open-hole interval in a carbonate reservoir with significant permeability variance.

The operator needed a stimulation solution capable of delivering higher productivity than conventional methods.

Solution

Precise reservoir stimulation with branching technology

Fishbones deployed a 5½” liner equipped with six Fishbones Jetting Subs, creating a total of 24 branches into the reservoir.

To simplify operations and reduce complexity, acid was pumped directly from the rig without the need for a dedicated stimulation vessel.

The successful deployment supported completion of two additional wells in Q1 2026, with production start-up achieved in Q2 2026.
