Branching technology in a long horizontal sidetrack

In a multilayered tight limestone reservoir with permeability ranging from 0.1–3 mD, the operator needed to overcome limited vertical connectivity and improve gas flow across a 3,500 ft / 1,070 m horizontal sidetrack. Conventional stimulation methods had delivered limited production, creating the need for a more effective reservoir access strategy.

Solution

Fishbones deployed a 4.5” liner equipped with 40 Fishbones Jetting Subs, creating a total of 160 branches into the formation. By combining varying needle lengths from 26–40 ft / 8–11.5 m with precise reservoir access, the system enabled improved stimulation coverage across the multilayered formation. Needle clean-out operations were successfully performed using coil tubing.
